Distinctive Residential - Located in Burnsville Minnesota

Client Profile - This premier residence located in the Southern Twin Cities suburb of Burnsville is owned by a well established businessman.  This project began during Spring 2002 and was completed by early Summer.  Karkela Construction was requested by the residence owner because of previous remodeling work Karkela had completed on the owner's business location.

Click to view a larger imageClient Needs The project specified the addition of a custom wood shop room below an existing 3-season porch and demolition and reconstruction of a private office and bathroom area on the home's main floor.

Click to view a larger imageKarkela’s Solution – The original plans for the remodeling called for helical piers to be added near an existing three foot retaining wall to support the existing 3-season porch.  Through "value engineering", Karkela recommended instead that a twelve foot high 1000 square foot jumbo retaining wall be built.  This proposal was agreed to by the home owner and resulted in additional usable yard space at the project's completion.

Click to view a larger imageThe End Result – The owner of the home was very pleased with the end result.  Karkela Construction also added an oversized bay window to the kitchen area, re-worked several structural wall components, replaced carpeting, and painted the entire home's interior and exterior.  The end result was a home that better met the owner's needs and intended use.
