Callista Court Addition
St. Anne of Winona and Callista Court are both Benedictine Health System facilities serving the aging population in the SE Minnesota area. The two facilities, though serving different needs of their residents and operating in separate buildings on the same campus, often had significant interaction between their residents and staff.
From the inception of the Callista Court Addition, Schwab Construction and the Benedictine Health System facilities decided that the new building would be built between the two existing buildings. Logistically this made building the new addition while minimizing the interruption of day to day operations more difficult, but by placing the building in that location on the site, not only could they accomplish their primary need of additional assisted living and memory care beds but could also fulfill a long time dream of residents and staff of making the trip between the two buildings safer and more convenient. The 10 new memory care and 20 new assisted living units contained in the new addition met the urgent need for added resident capacity while the link connecting the first floors of the two existing buildings made traveling from one to the other possible without needing to go outside. Amenities such as a private dining room and a guest sleeping room that is available for rent allow a family member or guest the opportunity to remain close during an extended visit. A fireplace lounge, a Great Room for larger group gatherings, arts and crafts area, spa, screened in porches, family den for quiet moments with residents and a theater room for watching the latest movies or that big game together complete the amenities that serve to provide the comforts of home.
